The latest episode of WWE SmackDown Live took place in Dayton, Ohio on Tuesday, March 12. Shane McMahon vs. The Miz was confirmed for WrestleMania 35, while Randy Orton and AJ Styles were involved in one of the best promo battles of the year so far. Let’s take a look at five questions that need answering following the show…
#5 Too many tag matches?
Four matches took place on an episode full of promo segments, with three of those being tag matches. Aleister Black, Ricochet & The Hardy Boyz were on course to defeat The Bar, Rusev & Shinsuke Nakamura until The New Day got involved and caused a disqualification. Rey Mysterio & R-Truth then teamed up to defeat Samoa Joe & Andrade, while Daniel Bryan & Rowan defeated Kevin Owens & Mustafa Ali.
This week’s SmackDown was still a very good episode, mostly due to the promo segments involving AJ Styles & Randy Orton and Vince McMahon & The New Day, but the matches felt largely meaningless, especially when you consider that WrestleMania 35 is less than four weeks away and several ‘Mania matches from the blue brand haven’t been set up yet.
