#1 Did WWE bring Kevin Owens back too early?
Kevin Owens underwent double knee surgery in October 2018 and surprisingly returned to WWE as a member of the SmackDown Live roster last month. He was introduced as the new #1 contender for the WWE Championship, replacing Kofi Kingston, and he went on to lose a Triple Threat match against champion Daniel Bryan and fellow challenger Mustafa Ali at Fastlane on Sunday.
Reports earlier this year suggested that Owens would face Bryan for the WWE title at WrestleMania 35, hence why he was brought back on SmackDown instead of Raw. However, due to the incredible rise of Kingston over the last few weeks, WWE has been left with no choice but to catapult the New Day member into the WWE title scene at ‘Mania. This, of course, is incredible for Kingston, but where does it leave Owens?
If WWE delayed his return until after WrestleMania, he would feel like a big deal again. Now, in a storyline which is all about Bryan, Kingston and Vince McMahon, he feels like just another guy on the roster. With ‘Mania fast approaching, his most likely match at the event appears to be the Battle Royal.
