It was confirmed recently that Dean Ambrose will leave WWE when his contract with the company expires after WrestleMania 35 in April.
The former Shield member made a rare podcast appearance on Zack Ryder and Curt Hawkins’ ‘Major Wrestling Figure’ podcast this week to discuss his love of wrestling figures as a child.
Reminiscing about how he used to watch Triple H and Vince McMahon and now he works alongside them, he said:
“It’s trippy when you first make it to WWE, it’s one of those things like, ‘I’m gonna be in the video game, I’m gonna have a toy’ and everything. It’s trippy, it’s very cool. It’s still hard to wrap my brain around that I’m even in WWE. You’re so used to walking around and seeing Triple H and Vince McMahon. I’m used to having conversations with Vince McMahon. It’s hard to remember like you were a kid watching this on TV, it’s like, ‘Woah.'”
Regarding the non-wrestling fans in the locker room, he added:
“You guys are like me, there’s a lot of people here that are just here for money. They didn’t grow up watching it, don’t care for what they do, have no artistic care for what we do. But you guys are like me — this is all we’ve ever loved, this is our thing.”
