WWE is advertising Dean Ambrose vs. Nia Jax for an upcoming live event in Jonesboro, Arkansas on Friday, February 22.

The unusual rivalry began on the January 28 episode of Raw when Jax, who competed in the Men’s Royal Rumble the previous night, knocked Ambrose out of the ring by hitting him with a forearm to the back.

WWE continued the storyline on February 4 when Ambrose claimed during a ‘Moment of Bliss’ segment that Jax had a crush on him, leading to the announcement that they will face each other in an untelevised match.

With so much talk about intergender wrestling right now, let’s take a look at five previous occasions when WWE booked matches between men and women…

Disclaimer: Chyna is not included because the majority of her major matches were against men, so it was impossible to choose just one.

#5 Chris Jericho & Christian vs. Trish Stratus & Lita

Christian Chris Jericho

Chris Jericho and Christian were involved in a ‘Battle of the Sexes’ storyline with Trish Stratus and Lita from November 2003 to April 2004.

The most notable match from the rivalry came in December 2003 when the male Superstars faced the women in an intergender tag match at the Armageddon pay-per-view.

In the end, Christian picked up the win for the men when he rolled Stratus up for the 1-2-3, and the two would go on to form an alliance three months later after WrestleMania XX.

Christian also went one-on-one with Stratus in a match on Raw in February 2004, defeating her in just 88 seconds.
