The WWE Money In The Bank pay-per-view has taken place in June or July every year since it became an annual event in 2010. However, in a change to the usual PPV schedule, it has been confirmed that this year’s show will take place on May 19 in Hartford, Connecticut.
In recent years, we have seen Dean Ambrose, Baron Corbin, Braun Strowman, Carmella and Alexa Bliss win the coveted MITB contract. While Ambrose, Carmella and Bliss successfully cashed in to become champions, Corbin and Strowman failed with their cash-ins (Strowman’s cash-in date was announced in advance) and both men are yet to become world champions in WWE.
So, with the 2019 event a little over two months away, let’s take a look at five early contenders who could win the men’s Money In The Bank ladder match…
Current situation: Andrade suffered a losing run towards the end of 2018 but he has turned things around in 2019 during his rivalry with Rey Mysterio. The two men have produced some of the best television matches of the year so far and many fans are calling for them to have a WrestleMania match against each other.
Previous title experience: The Mexican held the NXT Championship during his time with WWE’s development brand but he is yet to win a title on the main roster. He was recently involved in two multi-man matches for the United States Championship on SmackDown Live. However, R-Truth and Samoa Joe emerged victorious and Andrade failed to capture the title.
Likelihood of future title win: Every so often, reports come out suggesting that Andrade is in line for a ‘mega push’ in WWE. He was even among the top-five favourites with bookmakers to win the Royal Rumble in January. If WWE is to sky-rocket him into world title contention, a Money In The Bank victory is the way to do it.
