The WWE Money In The Bank pay-per-view has taken place in June or July every year since it became an annual event in 2010. However, in a change to the usual PPV schedule, it has been confirmed that this year’s show will take place on May 19 in Hartford, Connecticut.
In recent years, we have seen Dean Ambrose, Baron Corbin, Braun Strowman, Carmella and Alexa Bliss win the coveted MITB contract. While Ambrose, Carmella and Bliss successfully cashed in to become champions, Corbin and Strowman failed with their cash-ins (Strowman’s cash-in date was announced in advance) and both men are yet to become world champions in WWE.
So, with the 2019 event a little over two months away, let’s take a look at five early contenders who could win the women’s Money In The Bank ladder match…
#5 Liv Morgan
Current situation: Liv Morgan teamed with Sarah Logan in a losing effort against five other duos in the Elimination Chamber match for the Women’s Tag Team titles last month. She picked up several wins early on in her main-roster career but she has been on a losing run recently, losing 13 of her last 14 matches on television.
Previous title experience: Morgan has never won a title in NXT or WWE. She challenged Bayley and Asuka for the NXT Women’s Championship at live events from 2015-17 but never looked like a serious contender to win the title. Her only main-roster title opportunity came in the tag match at Elimination Chamber.
Likelihood of future title win: WWE clearly sees a lot of potential in The Riott Squad, hence why they’re on Raw almost every week. Ruby Riott is the most established member of the group, so I think Morgan would benefit a lot more from a Money In The Bank victory. That way she could become a breakout star, much like Carmella in 2017. Or, who knows, maybe The Riott Squad could all hold the briefcase?
