Match 2: The Usos (c) vs. Shane McMahon & The Miz – SmackDown Tag Team Championship

Background: Shane McMahon & The Miz lost the SmackDown Tag Team titles to The Usos at Elimination Chamber. This rematch was set up after Miz pleaded with Shane to team with him one more time. Shane agreed, in Miz’s hometown of Cleveland no less, with Miz’s father (George Mizanin, aka Mr. Miz) at ringside.

Summary: Fan favourite Miz showed off some rare aerial offence when he flew from the top rope onto both Usos at ringside, right in front of his father. Miz almost won with a Skull Crushing Finale but, as the referee was busy attending to Shane, he only got a 2-count. Shane redeemed himself with a Coast-to-Coast interception to counter an Uso Splash on Miz, who moments later tried a Frog Splash after encouragement from his father. However, he was rolled up for a 1-2-3 and The Usos retained.

Post-match: Shane attacked Miz at ringside with a clubbing blow to the back of his head, prompting huge boos from the crowd. He ripped Miz’s Cleveland shirt off, wiped his sweat all over it and threw it in his tag partner’s face. Shane continued to throw punches and kicks and even shoved Mr. Miz in the face before locking in a triangle submission on Miz.

Verdict: This was… AMAZING. There aren’t many moments in WWE nowadays where I find myself saying “No, no, no, don’t do it!”, but this was one of them. I’ve wanted Shane to turn heel for a long time, but on The Miz and in Cleveland?! What a monster! The match and post-match segment were both brilliant. Roll on SmackDown Live.

Grade: A

Elias briefly appeared to sing a derogatory song about Cleveland.
