The latest episode of WWE NXT took place on Wednesday, September 26. Here’s a recap of what happened…

Opening segment: Undisputed Era interrupt William Regal

NXT General Manager William Regal was in the middle of delivering an update on the Aleister Black investigation when he was interrupted by The Undisputed Era. Roderick Strong described War Raiders as “Cosplay Vikings” and Adam Cole demanded a rematch against Ricochet. However, Regal had different ideas, announcing the following matches:

  • North American Championship: Ricochet (c) vs. Adam Cole vs. Pete Dunne (October 3)
  • Tag Team Championship: Undisputed Era (c) vs. War Raiders (October 17)

Match 1: Lars Sullivan def. Victor Orchant via disqualification

The monstrous Lars Sullivan man-handled Victor Orchant across the ring and over to the ringside area. He was then attacked from behind by EC3, who clotheslined his rival over the top rope and stood tall in the middle of the ring while Lars scurried away up the ramp.

Aleister Black clues

William Regal and interviewer Cathy Kelley attempted to find out more about the Aleister Black attack. Regal’s search led him to Nikki Cross, who left the NXT GM’s office just as he got there, ominously saying “I know, I know…” as she walked away. Cathy interviewed Velveteen Dream, who hinted that he knew who attacked Black but he didn’t want to be a snitch.

Match 2: The Mighty def. The Street Profits

Montez Ford immediately got the fans on his side by catching Shane Thorne off guard with a punch to the mouth. Ford’s athleticism was a feature of the match, as was his leg injury after he was trapped between the steel steps and the ring post by Thorne and Miller. In the end, Thorne prevented Angelo Dawkins from tagging in and Miller sneaked a pinfall win for The Mighty.

Match 3: Kairi Sane def. Vanessa Borne

Vanessa Borne disrespected Kairi Sane at the start of the match by stealing her pirate hat and kicking it out of the ring. It didn’t take long for Kairi to take control, though, and she quickly followed up a DDT and spear with her trademark elbow from the top rope for the victory. Just as she was celebrating her win, Kairi was interrupted by Shayna Baszler, who said she will invoke her rematch clause for the NXT Women’s title. Kairi granted her the rematch on one condition: the match takes place at WWE Evolution.

Match 4: Tommaso Ciampa def. Otis Dozovic

Otis Dozovic was surprisingly dominant in the early stages of the match before Tommaso Ciampa caught his opponent with two fierce knee strikes. Shortly after, when Ciampa tried to escape up the ramp, Dozovic’s Heavy Machinery partner Tucker Knight prevented him from leaving. Dozovic continued to put up a good fight but it wasn’t enough, with Ciampa getting the 1-2-3 after a draping DDT.
