WWE NXT UK TakeOver: Blackpool took place at the Empress Ballroom on Saturday, January 12.

Here’s a recap of what happened on the show…

Match 1: Moustache Mountain (Tyler Bate & Trent Seven) vs. Zack Gibson & James Drake — NXT UK Tag Team Championship

Credit: WWE.com

Summary: The fans got the party started early with positive chants for Tyler Bate and “Shoes off if you hate Gibson” chants for Zack Gibson. The two traded unique submissions before tagging in their partners. One of the biggest moments came when James Drake caught Trent Seven in the side of the head with a left forearm, causing him to bleed. When Bate tagged back in, he took his opponents for a ride with a double airplane spin, prompting chants of “Big strongboi!”, before suplexing Drake onto Gibson at ringside and landing a moonsault onto them both. It looked as though Gibson & Drake would get the win when Gibson hit Seven with Helter Skelter and Drake followed it up with a 450, but Seven just kicked out. Gibson was on the verge of making Seven tap out to the Shankly Gates at one stage but Bate broke it up by launching Drake onto Gibson. In the end, Gibson caught Bate on his shoulders at ringside and Drake sent him flying with a dive through the ropes. Gibson & Drake re-entered the ring and hit Ticket to Mayhem on Seven, allowing Drake to get the 1-2-3.

Quick thoughts: This match is MUST-WATCH. Some fans had their heads in their hands when Drake hit the 450 on Seven — they were that worried that Moustache Mountain would lose. This is the first A+ grade this website has ever given for a tag match, which tells you everything you need to know.
