#4 United States Championship shenanigans
We’ve eliminated Randy Orton from the gauntlet match — now it’s Samoa Joe’s turn. “The Samoan Submission Machine” became the fourth holder of the United States Championship in six weeks when he won the title in a Fatal 4-Way match last week on SmackDown Live against R-Truth, Rey Mysterio and Andrade. Five nights later, he won the rematch against the same three opponents at Fastlane.
It looked as though WWE might find a new challenger for Joe in the build-up to WrestleMania 35, with John Cena’s name even being mentioned, but this week’s tag match between the same four men on SmackDown Live, which saw Mysterio pin Joe, suggested that the current storyline is set to rumble on.
Joe attacked Andrade and Truth in frustration following the tag defeat on Tuesday, so at least one of those guys are bound to get involved in the gauntlet match to cost the US champion against Kofi Kingston.
